France won their opening game of the 2016 Six Nations earlier today, beating Italy 23-21 at the Stade De France.

French winger Virimi Vakatawa opened the scoring with a wonderfully worked try, before Sergio Parisse scored following a well worked lineout move.

Carlo Canna scored Italy’s only other try, while Damien Chouly and Hugo Bonneval crossed the whitewash for France.

The match was turned on its head when Sergio Parisse gave away a controversial penalty with a few minutes remaining that Jules Plisson converted into three points, securing France the win.
