From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Tiatia had been cited after the London Irish centre Nick Greenstock suffered a fractured shoulder when he was removed from the fringes of a ruck. The panel dismissed the case because there was no evidence to support the citing.
Gloucester will be without their No 8 Junior Paramore for Saturday's Premiership clash at home to Leicester after he suffered a broken arm against Newcastle on Sunday. He will be out of action for up to 12 weeks.
Leeds have warned their future is under threat because of the way Premier Rugby Ltd, the umbrella organisation for the top 12 clubs, finances individual members of the Premiership.
"We have been offered a mixture of grant and interest-bearing loans for each of the next two seasons upon condition that we surrender our rights to challenge the unequal distribution of income," the Tykes chief executive, Gary Hetherington, explained.
Leeds, who are only in their second Premiership season, are challenging the distribution of money, which is based on length of time in the Premiership.
