Saracens retained the Premiership title to become two-time double winners after a 37-34 victory over Exeter Chiefs saw the north London side add the Twickenham final to their European success this season.

In one transpired to be a final that will rank among the greats, both sides scores five tries apiece to set up a thrilling final quarter, and by the time the final whistle blew on the 2018/19 season, the boot of Owen Farrell was the only thing to split the teams as his first-half penalty proved the difference.

Exeter claimed the early advantage as scrum-half Nic White scored in just 27 seconds from Exeter's own kick-off, but Saracens responded to take the lead with tries from Jamie George and Ben Spencer.

However, just as Saracens were threatening to take control, Exeter roared back emphatically with tries through Dave Ewers and Jonny Hill, with Joe Simmonds adding a penalty with the final kick of the first half.

The second half began with 18 fiercely-fought minutes, yet neither side was able to threaten until Henry Slade finished a beautiful move to open the gap up to 11 points in the table-toppers' favour.

But Saracens powered back into the contest, and tries from wings Liam Williams and Sean Maitland put them ahead before George sealed the win with his second. Sam Hill came off the Exeter bench to add a conslation when time had expired, but Exeter fell narrowly short of the highest prize in English rugby.
