Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.England and Wasps fly-half Danny Cipriani is confident he will return to full fitness after a fracture dislocation of his ankle.
The 20-year-old had surgery on the injury, sustained in his side’s Guinness Premiership semi-final victory over Bath on May 18, and was ruled out for six months - meaning he missed England’s end-of-season tour of New Zealand.
Last week, he was named in new England manager Martin Johnson’s Saxons squad for next season and is confident of making a full recovery.
“There is no doubt in my mind I can be as physically fast as I used to be,” said Cipriani.
“It has been a day at a time and I’ve been positive since it (the injury) happened.”
Cipriani said he was grateful for the support he had received during his rehabilitation from both Johnson and his club.
“Wasps and England have not put any pressure on me coming back too soon - they want me to come back when I’m comfortable, he added on Sky Sports News.
“Martin Johnson has been very reassuring. He spoke to me two days after I got the injury.
“He spoke to me two weeks before the announcement of the EPS (England Performance Squad) and reassured me there was no pressure on me getting back.”
