Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The joint favourites, Watsonians, runners-up in last year's competition and 59-20 winners over Gala yesterday, have been drawn away against Boroughmuir in the only all-First Division tie of the Tennents Scottish Cup quarter- finals. Boroughmuir look to be mounting a strong challenge for the trophy after yesterday's 71-9 defeat of Stirling County in the fifth round.

The pick of the other ties is the game at Burnbrae, where West of Scotland, winners over Glasgow Southern by 15-10, will play the favourites, Melrose, who trounced Kelso 71-37. Peebles, who beat Kilmarnock 22-10, face Heriot's FP, who knocked out Berwick 37-17. Kirkcaldy reached the last eight with a 48-8 win over Edinburgh University and next face Dundee HSFP, who beat non-League Hawick Linden 31-6.

TENNENTS SCOTTISH CUP, Quarter-final draw: Peebles v Heriot's FP; West of Scotland v Melrose; Kirkcaldy v Dundee HSFP; Boroughmuir v Watsonians.
