Rugby Union: Trying time for Glasgow
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

CAMERON GLASGOW suffered what he later described as an aberration midway through the first half against Gala. Collecting the ball inside his 22, the Heriot's full- back attempted a clearance kick which was charged down by Gordon Waddell who scored.
'That'll teach me to play safe,' Glasgow said. 'I should have ran the ball as I normally do'
A few minutes after Gala's smash-and-grab try, Glasgow was back at his uninhibited best as he flitted outrageously from defence. Glasgow, having been discarded by Scotland as a stand-off, is now back in the squad and, properly handled, could realise his potential on the wing.
Far from attempting to curb his free spirit, John Foster, the Heriot's coach, regards it as 'an obligation' to nurture it. Under's Glasgow pervasive influence, Heriot's touched exhilarating heights at times yet allowed Gala back from arrears of 30-8 after 53 minutes.
Gala were left ruing the absence of the stand-off Gregor Townsend, whose broken wrist could keep him on the sidelines for up to eight weeks. But they were comprehensively outplayed up front and much of Heriot's control stemmed from the line-out dominated by the 6ft 8in Andy Macdonald. His catch set up the first of two tries by the hooker Kenny Milne in the first four minutes of the second half which put Heriot's totally in command at 25-8.
