John Jeavons-Fellows, one of England's two representatives on the International Rugby Board, is set to become chairman of the Rugby Football Union executive committee. He is expected to retain his IRB position.

Junior Paramore, the Western Samoan flanker, has laid a complaint of assault against Ian Jones, the All Black lock, over an incident during a New Zealand provincial championship match on 9 September. Paramore left the field during a match between Counties and North Harbour with an eye problem after an incident he alleged involved Jones. Paramore's brother, Salevana, is to reappear in court next Tuesday on a charge of assaulting Jones after the match.
