Wales are set to play at Wembley for a year while Cardiff Arms Park is re-developed in time for the World Cup in 1999.They hope to move for games against New Zealand, Scotland and France between May next year and October 1998.

The Welsh First Division clubs have resolved their differences with the Welsh Rugby Union which will unite them in their opposition to the BSkyB bid to control all televised rugby in the United Kingdom and Ireland. It also means that the Welsh clubs will participate in the two European tournaments next season, the Heineken Cup and the European Conference, as well as all domestic competitions.

Martin Corry, the England A flanker, has taken over from Paul Hull as captain of Bristol for the coming season. In a change from club tradition whereby the players have nominated the captain, the club's board of directors were asked to approve the recommendation of director of rugby Alan Davies
