Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Blackheath have formed themselves into a limited company, with a share capital of pounds 2.56million. The Courage League Two club are negotiating with two outside investors but Iain Exeter, Blackheath's director of rugby, has criticised some clubs' use of their new money, saying: "Waving a cheque- book in the air may attract short-term success, but it's not a recipe for long-term development. We feel very uneasy about the route which some of our fellow senior clubs are following. We think they are totally wrong. We have no intention of abandoning the club's other teams as baggage not wanted on voyage."

Wasps have signed the experienced Scottish lock Damian Cronin and Harlequin's hooker Simon Mitchell.

New Zealand have named an unchanged team for its second Tri-Nations match against South Africa in Wellington on Saturday 20 July. The 36-man squad to tour South Africa from 29 July to 1 Sept will be named on Sunday.
