Your support makes all the difference.SHEFFIELD EAGLES came from behind to secure their first victory over Leeds and leave their Yorkshire rivals third from bottom of the Championship yesterday. Leeds suffered a further blow through the loss of Andy Goodway with a suspected broken left arm.
Leeds began well enough. They swept into the lead in the eighth minute, Carl Gibson and Craig Innes combining for Ellery Hanley to score the opening try. But Eagles were level in the 23rd minute when their leading try-scorer, David Plange, touched down, Mark Aston adding the goal.
Then the Australian Garry Jack added another try, Aston again landing the goal, before dropping a goal from 45 yards two minutes before the interval. Gary Mercer replied for Leeds after the restart and Hanley's strength took him over for another to put Leeds ahead, but Aston restored Sheffield's lead in the 67th minute with a penalty, and Richard Mycoe and Richard Price, twice, added tries.
Wakefield sent Bradford to their fourth successive league defeat with a powerful second-half performance. They won 30-16.
