Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Widnes, however, had to battle after a Warrington recovery which produced two tries in four minutes to give them the lead early in the second-half.
McCurrie scored twice before half-time to take Widnes to a 10-0 interval lead, but Warrington replied with tries by Paul Williamson and Kelly Shelford. Three goals from Chris Rudd set up a 14-10 advantage.
Widnes regained the initiative with David Hulme, McCurrie and David Myers scoring in the last quarter and Jonathan Davies kicked three goals.
Hull ended a run of four successive defeats by avenging their New Year's Day loss to their city rivals, Hull Kingston Rovers. They laid the foundations for only their third win this year in the first-half. Mike Fletcher gave Rovers the lead before Hull replied when Scott Gale followed up a Richard Gay kick to score. Paul Eastwood landed the goal and struck again after a kick through by Ivan Henjak. He was on target with his third kick to see Hull home.
