From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The best of the racing midweek action this week takes place across the Irish Sea, with Gowran Park staging the rearranged Red Mills Chase (3.50) on ground that remains heavy on Tuesday.

Cheltenham-bound steeds, with the Festival just two weeks away, are perhaps unlikely to be seeing any action in the interim, but this Grade 2 is still hot stuff. Bachasson may not achieve the limelight as much as his class deserves.

While he was an unplaced 33-1 chance in last year's Coral Cup, he's won all four starts since, all on soft or heavy and two of them over fences. He is hard to oppose given how badly stablemate Annamix ran at Thurles.

Catterick's jumps offering in North Yorkshire has plenty of betting opportunities. They kick off with the Racing TV Profits Returned To Racing Novices' Hurdle (12.30). This is a dead match between Omar Maretti and Real Stone and, given that Omar Maretti achieved his easy course win here last month without the benefit of any prior experience at the racetrack, Alex Hales' charge has to be preferred.

Dan and Harry Skelton might have better luck in the Jumps At Home With Racing TV Novices' Chase (1.00). The weights structure is very favourable here for West To The Bridge, who was back to his best at Wetherby, though it is true that his jumping technique was not exactly bullet-proof when last seen over fences in 2019.

The useful Cat Tiger is perhaps the star attraction at Leicester in the second of the two hunter chases. The nap on the card goes in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Mares' Handicap Chase (3.40), with Arqalina worth taking on at a track like this after getting 8lbs for an easy win at Hereford. Happy News, dropping back in trip, makes plenty of appeal at around 10-1 for Jordan Nailor.

There's plenty to chat about Wednesday at Wincanton and Musselburgh. At the Scottish track, the William Hill Play Responsibly Handicap Hurdle (4.05) is deeply competitive and Dora De Janeiro is fascinating here. Simon West's mare ran a blinder on the all-weather last time and now appears well-in back hurdling.

On Thursday, Ludlow's Join RacingTV Now Novices' Limited Handicap Chase (1.00) has caught the eye of many of the top yards. Presuming he takes his chance, Adjali looks the one to beat here for Nicky Henderson after a reassuring run on the all-weather, his first after a wind operation.
