James Doyle has been appointed as retained rider to owner Khalid Abdullah and will begin his new role with the ride on the 2,000 Guineas favourite Kingman in the Solario Stakes at Sandown tomorrow.
Doyle, who has been stable jockey to Roger Charlton, winning a string of Group One races on Al Kazeem this summer, will ride all of Abdullah's horses in Britain. The owner, who had been expected to reduce his bloodstock interests, has not retained a jockey since Richard Hughes became a freelance in 2007.
