Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

STRAVINSKY, THE four-length winner of the July Cup over six furlongs at Newmarket last week, will try to extend his domination to a different distance when he attempts five furlongs for the first time in his career in the Nunthorpe Stakes over five furlongs at York on 19 August. Stravinsky heads a list of 37 entries for the Group One race and is one of six entries by his trainer, Aidan O'Brien. The others are Bianconi, Black Rock Desert, Borromini, Lavery and Orpen.

Lochangel, last year's winner, is also entered but there are no entries from Godolphin. However, Sheikh Mohammed could be represented by the John Gosden-trained Bertolini and Lionhearted.

Also entered is Jack Berry's 1998 Norfolk Stakes winner Rosselli, who has been off the course with a tendon injury sustained on the gallops in May. Berry said: "He's back in full work now and I'm very pleased with him. He's very well and on course for the race. I might just look for a little conditions race a week or 10 days before York or I may just give him a racecourse work-out."
