Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Daylami: Fourth to Swain in this last year. Also won 1998 Eclipse and a steadily-run 1999 Coronation Cup. Laid out for this.

Fruits Of Love: Trounced Royal Anthem in Hardwicke Stakes over course and distance last month having been well beaten in the Coronation Cup.

Indigenous: A winner 12 times at Sha Tin (including in four Group Ones) but needs to produce a career best to win this.

Nedawi: Winner of last year's St Leger (1m 6f) and fifth in Gold Cup (2m 4f) here last time. Effective at this trip and a strong gallop could bring him into contention.

Silver Patriarch: Winner of the 1997 St Leger and the 1998 Coronation Cup. Fourth to Daylami last time (unsuited by slow pace) and disappointing sixth to Swain in this race last year.

Sunshine Street: Front-running Irish raider but new tactics may be employed here. Fourth to Fruits Of Love in the Hardwicke Stakes at the Royal meeting.

Daliapour: Second to Oath in the Derby and then second in the Irish version behind Montjeu. Lacks finishing kick and may prove vulnerable on fast ground.

Oath: Decisive winner of the Derby from Daliapour. Reportedly in good form again after lacklustre gallops ruled him out of the Irish Derby. Can improve further.

Conclusion: OATH goes from strength to strength, and a fast pace would suit him and Fruits Of Love but might stretch the stamina of Daylami.
