Racing: Love Of Silver polishes off Bloom
DANCING BLOOM, the third favourite for the 1,000 Guineas, gave a Classic pointer in the Prestige Stakes at Goodwood yesterday. By losing, writes Richard Edmondson.
Michael Stoute's filly finished a neck behind Love Of Silver, who is considered much further behind another Guineas prospect, Sayyedati, by her trainer, Clive Brittain.
'I thought Love Of Silver would win as soon as they started coming at her because she's a real battler,' Brittain said. 'Last time at Newmarket she was out in the middle on her own and just fighting herself. She's a very nice filly but Sayyedati's six lengths better.'
Expect a performance of some stature then when Sayyedati runs next, in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at The Curragh a week today. The Shadeed filly may then take in the Cheveley Park Stakes, thus creating a headache of Sunday morning proportions for her rider, Michael Roberts, who must also consider Richard Hannon's Lyric Fantasy.
The South African's leaning yesterday seemed to be towards Lyric Fantasy. He considers her the embodiment of a two-year-old, while Sayyedati has conjured visions of a filly who will be at her most daunting during a Classic season.
