HAYDOCK
2.00: Dune River goes best fresh, but BAND ON THE RUN takes the eye under Jason Weaver. He possesses sufficient speed to maintain a prominent position from the stalls, and is very fairly weighted.
2.30: Hat-trick seeker HOWARD'S END is an automatic choice off his feather-weight. White Crown will be suited by the trip and any overnight rain, but Beauchamp Hero looks a doubtful stayer.
3.30: OWINGTON should make no mistake. The Green Desert colt lengthened his stride in scintillating style to beat Dolphin Street by a head in Newmarket's July Cup, and has nothing to fear from Piccolo and Lavinia Fontana on that form. Unblest looked none-too-keen at Newbury, while Risky, who lacks the class of Owington, would undoubtedly prefer softer ground.
KEMPTON
3.10: TANSEEQ, an impressive winner at Bath, can improve again with blinkers fitted for the first time. Admiralella was almost two lengths behind Tanseeq at Bath, yet meets that rival on 2lb worse terms. Diabaig could run well at long odds.
3.40: Wagon Master ran the race of his life in the King George, but URGENT REQUEST is improving fast, and gets the vote in receipt of 2lb. The son of Rainbow Quest ran away with a Group Three contest last time, and the runner-up, Cezanne, has won well in Germany since. Young Buster remains in cracking form, but Alriffa has performed poorly since his French Derby third.
4.10: Art Of War and PRINCELY HUSH are the two to concentrate on here. The former is highly regarded by Roger Charlton but Princely Hush, who has beaten Sri Pekan this term, has outstanding prospects despite an absence of over 11 weeks.
4.40: Chatham Island was a fine fourth in the Bessborough Handicap and must have claims on that run. However, JOHNS ACT is ideally suited by the race conditions and has fine prospects on his third behind Royal Seaton first time out.
