Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

DONCASTER

2.05: Winter Coat, representing John Gosden's powerful stable, will be a warm order in the ring after his narrow defeat in a Yarmouth maiden last season which promised great things. There may be some value in opposing him with IRREPRESSIBLE, whose immaturity prevented him improving on a debut second at Newmarket in May. A win for Danish Heights would boost the 2,000 Guineas prospects of his Newmarket conqueror Green Green Desert.

2.35: With varying degrees of riding experience, jockeyship will count for a lot here. Chief Of Staff has a clear advantage with Lydia Pearce in the saddle, but Harpoon Louie, Balnibarbi, Mislemani and Captain

Marmalade also have very experienced pilots. Alison Yardley, the rider of SURREY DANCER, has yet to reach that league but has a progressive partner who won twice over hurdles this winter and finished ahead of Cheltenham winner Arctic Kinsman in a hot novices' event won by Cumbrian Challenge.

3.05: At around 14-1 to 16-1 in morning price lists, GLOWING JADE represents decent each-way value in a race for those that failed to make the Lincoln line-up. Lightly raced, she was a close sixth over this track and trip on her final outing last year and her recent effort on the all-weather, when amateur ridden, was an appropriately gentle warm up for this. She will be suited by the ground and distance while Diskette, the likely favourite, has shown her best form over further. Buzzards Bellbuoy, well backed for the Lincoln, and Allinson's Mate, a winner two days ago, also have chances to be respected.

3.40: Like so many before him, PARADISE NAVY has improved for a spell with Martin Pipe, who has campaigned him in some of the top novice hurdles this winter. That leaves him well handicapped on the Flat, particularly as he was thought smart enough to run in Dr Devious's Derby. Miss Plum, who was undefeated in two runs this winter, poses the greatest threat.

4.10: Running Glimpse, with three runs on all-weather tracks this year, holds a fitness advantage over most of these. It may be worth taking a chance with TAWAFIJ though, who is having his first run for Thomas Dyer's stable and is on a 500-mile round trip from Tayside. Master Of Passion will love the ground and trip, and Garnock Valley is sure to have been fully primed by Jack Berry, but well-handicapped Gone Savage may find the sixth furlong too far.
