2.30: Housemaster's exertions in the Derby, where he finished a creditable fourth, mean he will not be as fresh as most of his rivals. Manndar has been brought along quietly by Luca Cumani but certainly looks to have the quality to go close in this Group Two contest. MARKAN was a late withdrawal from the Derby because of Epsom's rain-softened ground but Paul Cole believes this lightly-raced chestnut is high class on fast ground. Odds in double figures look attractive.
3.05: Yesterday's Ribblesdale Stakes victory by Fairy Queen emphasised the strength in depth of the Godolphin team. SEA WAVE is their representative in this contest from five acceptors at the five-day stage. The hint should be taken as this smart colt will be staying on strongly at the end of this tough 12 furlongs. With the likes of front-running Rabah in the field, stamina will be at a premium. The tactics are likely to be to try to stretch the hot favourite Royal Anthem, a big, tall colt who has shown top-class form over today's distance but may not want to travel any further.
3.45: Primo Lara shows plenty of speed from the gate and, from stall 13, can give a lead to hold-up horses in the middle of the track. But by far the biggest concentration of early-paced runners are among the high numbers, notably Perryston View (29). A flat-out gallop will suit high-drawn horses who are best when covered up for a late thrust. Al Muallim, with Kieren Fallon aboard, must be a danger to all but better value lies with LEVELLED. Frankie Dettori gets on well with this five-year-old who has been running far better than his recent form figures suggest. At Epsom a fortnight ago Levelled was not hard ridden to be fifth, beaten under five lengths, to Further Outlook. Mick Channon's runner is now 8lb better off at the weights and is proven on fast ground.
4.20: Mud ruined the chance of LUJAIN on his last race, at York, but if the going remains fast a transformed colt will be competing here. He was a top-class sprinting two-year-old last season. Dettori's mount is drawn high, alongside main rival Lochangel. This five-year-old was not asked to perform her usual trail-blazing role at Sandown last time, but Kieren Fallon will not be hanging around today.
