Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

CHARING (6 Feb)

Cracking Idea clocked the fastest time of the day in the Ladies Open. Never far away, he led at the fifth last fence and surged clear to score by 20 lengths from Docs Dilemma.

COTTENHAM (7 Feb)

The Auctioneer - no match for the useful Real Value last time - returned to winning form with an impressive victory in the Intermediate. Making all and storming clear three out, he won by a distance from Ring Albert in easily the fastest time of the day.

FRIARS HAUGH (7 Feb)

Faster Ron made all and jumped well in the Restricted. He forged clear over the last two fences to beat Hopies Delight by three lengths in a decent time.

Mountain Thyne was extremely impressive in Division Two of the Open Maiden. Settled in the middle of the field early on, he led two out and stayed on gamely to beat Explore Mondial by four lengths in what appeared an exceptional time for a maiden winner.
