Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

ARCHIE BROWN: looked likely to cause the race-fit favourite, Grand Hawk, considerable problems in the finale at Kempton on Saturday, but was unable to recover from a mistake at the second last. The third horse was 30 lengths away, however, and he should soon justify his trainer's expectations. (S Sherwood).

BOY MARTIN: a performer on the all-weather Flat tracks who had looked to need further than seven furlongs and ran on late when stepped up to a mile at Southwell on Friday. Should win a small handicap over an extra couple of furlongs. (S Kettlewell).

HUDSON BAY TRADER: consistent type who ran on from a different county to finish second to Lo Stregone at Haydock on Saturday. Needs more than two and a half miles now. (P Beaumont).

ROCK LEGEND: moderate middle-distance performer on the Flat. The two miles of his debut over hurdles at Kempton on Friday was always likely to be too sharp, but he kept on steadily into fourth behind some useful sorts. Will do better over further. (D Shaw).
