Lambourn trainer Doug Marks yesterday lost his appeal against the demotion of his filly Crackling at Goodwood 11 days ago.
The Jockey Club's Disciplinary Committee upheld the Goodwood stewards' decision to disqualify Crackling from first place for interfering with Day Of History in the BBC Radio 5 Claiming Handicap on 3 October.
The committee viewed a video of the race and heard evidence from Marks and Crackling's rider Steve Dawson, as well as from Tyrone Williams, the jockey on Day Of History which had been promoted to the winner's spot after originally finishing second.
