Racing: Bradley's dilemma
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.GRAHAM Bradley was at the centre of a wrangle yesterday over riding plans for the pounds 50,000-added Mackeson Gold Cup Chase on Saturday. Bradley has partnered former Champion hurdler Morley Street in his last two races over jumps and connections want him to renew the partnership in the Cheltenham showpiece. But the jockey would prefer to partner the Irish- trained Bishops Hall.
Morley Street's trainer Toby Balding said: 'Graham has been angling for Morley Street to be switched to Haydock next week but our preference is for Cheltenham.
'Graham has got to make his own mind up, but Morley Street is his ride at present and the horse has plenty of long-term objectives.'
Bradley stepped in for the ride on Morley Street when Richard Dunwoody was unavailable in last spring's Champion Hurdle. The horse was unsuccessful there but Bradley provided one of the highlights of the season when bringing gelding to snatch the Martell Aintree Hurdle. However, Morley Street has not run over fences for some time and did not seem to enjoy the experience when previously put over the larger obstacles.
Morley Street and Bishops Hall were among 18 horses standing their ground at yesterday's forfeit stage. Bradbury Star remains the 6-1 favourite with Coral. Storm Alert has been trimmed from 7-1 to 13-2. Ladbroke's bracket these two with General Idea and Second Schedual as co-favourites.
ACCEPTORS: Armagret, Bishops Hall, Bradbury Star, Brandeston, Commercial Artist, Egypt Mill Prince, General Idea, General Pershing, Guiburn's Nephew, Morley Street, Panto Prince, River Bounty, Second Schedual, Smartie Express, Space Fair, Storm Alert, Sword Beach, Tipping Tim.
