A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of Brunico, a leading point-to-pointer who suffered a savage attack last week. Detectives were yesterday questioning a man in Staffordshire about the death of the 12-year-old grey, found with severe head and leg injuries at a farm in Dyfed.

Brunico, who finished second in the 1986 Triumph Hurdle and won the Group Three Ormonde Stakes when trained by Rod Simpson, won 12 consecutive point-to- points in 1992 for owner Michael Morris and trainer Peter Bowen, who lives a mile from the scene of the attack.
