Former Olympic pole vault champion Sergei Bubka – and still the world record holder – launched his bid for the presidency of the International Olympic Committee, world sport's most influential post.
The new president, to succeed Jacques Rogge, will be elected on 10 September. Bubka, 49, joins Germany's Thomas Bach, Singapore's Ng Ser Miang, C.K. Wu of Taiwan, Puerto Rican Richard Carrion and Swiss Denis Oswald in a six-way contest.
