Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Nathan Stephens

Athletics

World record holder Nathan Stephens is the man to beat in the men's F57/58 javelin final starting today at 7.02pm. The double amputee narrowly missed out on bronze in Beijing but is expected to take gold in London.

David Stone

Cycling

The Beijing double medallist is geared up for gold as he defends his title in the men's T1-2 road race at Brands Hatch this morning. Stone, who took bronze in the time trial, showed his form by winning gold in this year's Para-cycling Road World Cup.

David Weir

Athletics

The nine-time Paralympic medallist goes for his fourth gold of this Games in the T54 marathon starting at 11.30am tomorrow, having confirmed his status as the world's best wheelchair athlete with successes in the 800m, 1,500m and 5,000m. He faces another challenge from Australian Kurt Fearnley over the gruelling 26 miles, but Weir, a six-time London marathon winner, hopes to have his crowning moment outside Buckingham Palace.
