From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Paralympic champions Jonnie Peacock and David Weir were denied triumphant returns to the Olympic Stadium.

Amputee sprinter Peacock was beaten in the T44 100 metres by American Richard Browne, who claimed victory in 10.96 seconds. The Briton was second in 11.02sec.

Wheelchair racer Weir, who won three golds on the same track in 2012, had to settle for fifth in the T54 1500m in 3:04.80 as Switzerland’s Marcel Hug took the win.

A crowd of 20,000 saw the final day of the Anniversary Games, which also featured wins for Paralympic champions Hannah Cockroft in the T34 400m and Richard Whitehead in the T42 200m.

The Commonwealth champion Libby Clegg won the T12 200m, while there were two British world records, for Georgina Hermitage, who clocked 1:02.48 to win the T37 400m, and Sophie Hahn, who crossed the line first in the T38 100m in 13.00.
