AFTER the first day on the shooting range had been dominated by the teenagers, yesterday saw the thirtysomethings strike back for the older generation, winning both gold medals on offer.
Yuri Fedkin was the first, in the men's 10 metre air rifle event, the 31-year-old Russian soldier setting a Games record of 695.3 points to win by three clear points (a comfortable margin in shooting) from France's Franck Badiou, who is also the world crossbow champion.
Then Marina Logvinenko, another 31-year-old Russian soldier, won the women's sports pistol by four points from China's Li Duihong.
Logvinenko's total of 684.0 points was also a new Olympic best.
