In Seoul, Richard Phelps, Dominic Mahony and Graham Brookhouse won the team bronze and the same trio will be on duty in Barcelona.
Sweden have the best Olympic record, but this year the favourites will be the Unified Team, Poland and Hungary.
Those three countries are also likely to provide the individual medallists, although Peter Steinmann of Switzerland and Phelps could also challenge.
Phelps was fourth in Los Angeles in 1984 and sixth at Seoul four years ago. He was also fifth at the world championships in 1989 and 1990.
GREAT BRITAIN: G Brookhouse, D Mahony, R Phelps, G Whyte.
