Max Biaggi took a giant stride towards his second World Superbike Championship title after extending his lead in the riders' standings to 30.5 points after yesterday's two races at Portimao in Portugal.
The Italian, who rides for Aprilia, finished fourth in race one and third in race two, while BMW's Marco Melandri, his closest rival at the start of the day, crashed in the first race and missed the second because of a bruised kidney.
