BBC and Sky share rights to the Formula One season
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Sky Sports will be broadcasting every race of the 2013 Formula One season live. Screened on their specific Sky Sports F1 channel, they will be providing coverage from every corner, crash and dramatic climax throughout the season. This includes live practice and qualification sessions.
Possessing household names such as Damon Hill, Johnny Herbert and Anthony Davidson, the Sky F1 team will also be joined by Martin Brundle and David Croft. The duo will provide commentary from every track across the globe, taking you through the whole experience of race day. With news breaking constantly over the race weekend, Natalie Pinkham and Ted Kravitz will keep you informed of any important news during your Sky F1 weekend experience.
BBC will join their fellow media outlet in screening nine live races this season across all of its platforms. On top of their live coverage, they will also provide highlights for any races that they have not covered. They have also been successful in gaining live broadcasting of each practice session from Melbourne all the way through to Brazil.
One major change with the BBC is the introduction of new presenter Suzi Perry, replacing last year’s host Jake Humphrey. Ben Edwards and co-commentator David Coulthard will continue to commentate live on the race and former driver Eddie Jordan will continue as chief analyst. BBC radio five live will broadcast live from every race throughout the calendar year.
