Pedro Lamy has capitalised on the chance he gained at Lotus after Alessandro Zanardi was injured in an accident at Spa-Francorchamps in August by securing a contract with the team for the 1994 Formula One world championship. The Portuguese driver, prominent in the International F3000 series this year, has already made two appearances for the team in Italy and Portugal. His team-mate has not yet been named but it is expected that Johnny Herbert will retain the position. McLaren confirmed that they have signed a long-term agreement with Peugeot for the supply of engines.
