MARTIN BRUNDLE could be a stage nearer securing a drive with McLaren-Peugeot in this season's Formula One world championship, writes Derick Allsop. The 34-year-old Briton is understood to have visited the team's factory, at Woking, for a seat fitting. That suggests he will shortly be given the opportunity of testing the car.
McLaren hope to lure Alain Prost, the former world champion, out of retirement to partner the Finn, Mika Hakkinen, and the Frenchman is due to have a test run. Brundle appears to have edged ahead in the competition for the third place in the squad. That could yet provide him with a chance to race.
