Robert McCracken, the British light-middleweight champion from Birmingham, returns to the ring in Wolverhampton tomorrow night after an absence of five months, when he puts his unbeaten record on the line against the Argentinian Jorge Sclarandi at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

McCracken has made a full recovery from the infected abscess in his mouth that he suffered in April and said: "Everything should be OK. I have been in training for the last six weeks and I am looking forward to getting back in the ring.

"But it is still a struggle to make the light-middleweight limit and that is something that I shall have to sit down and discuss with my manager, Mickey Duff."

McCracken is the top-ranked contender for the European title and Duff said: "I still feel that Robert can stay at light-middle if he disciplines himself in training.

"If he has enough time to prepare for a fight then he should be all right. But we shall have to talk about that following his fight on Friday.

"Having the weigh-in the day before a fight is also a big help for Robert."
