Coronavirus: Italy v England postponed amid outbreak

Follow the latest updates live from the Six Nations clash at Twickenham as England take on fierce rivals Wales, with the Triple Crown up for grabs for Eddie Jones’s side.

The fourth round of the Six Nations has been blighted by the fallout from the coronavirus outbreak, with today’s opening fixture between Ireland and Italy already postponed in an effort to contain the spread of the pandemic. Despite fears that England and Wales’s clash could go the same way, the match goes ahead in what will definitely be England’s final Six Nations match this season, with next weekend’s finale against Italy also called off.

Jones has made two changes to his side as both Mark Wilson and Anthony Watson return from injury for their first international appearances of the season, with Sam Underhill missing out through injury and Jonathan Joseph dropped. Wales boss Wayne Pivac meanwhile makes four changes, as Rob Evans and Josh Navidi come into the pack and Tomos Williams and Liam Williams added to the back line. Follow the live updates below.

Prediction

England 23-17 Wales: History shows these game are among the tightest in world rugby, particularly when it comes to the Six Nations, and just like the tournament trend it tends to all in favour of the home side. That should prove true once more given Wales aren’t at full strength, with Taulupe Faletau only fit enough from the bench and both Josh Navidi and Liam Williams at risk of being undercooked, and England look to be hitting their stride at the perfect time for this collision.

Time for the anthems...

Both anthems ring out as Prime Minister Boris Johnson appears on the big screen, with one or two boos going his way, but they're drowned out by God Save The Queen as the Twickenham crowd come to life.

Anthems over, here we go...

Wales get the game underway!

Manu Tuilagi makes his presence felt immediately as he lands a bone-shuddering hit on Biggar as he takes Youngs' clearing box-kick, but the fly-half wears it well and Wales have their first possession of the match.

England get the first error out of Wales as Biggar's clearing kick making poor yards, and although it's a messy lineout, England win it back with another thumping hit from Tuilagi, this tie on North. Itoje then breaks free and charges towards the 22, and the ball eventually finds touch off a Welsh hand to give England the lineout in the 22.

TRY FOR ENGLAND!

It's yet another flying start at home for England! From the lineout, Itoje secures possession and feeds Wilson. The flanker passes left to Youngs, who then flings it back on the inside to Anthony Watson. The wing, on his first start of the season, dances through the line and although Parkes scrags him by the shirt, he reaches out one-handed to score. Farrell adds the conversion and England lead.

There's concern for Jonny May as the England wing catches an elbow to the head from Halfpenny as the two compete for the ball. It's all accidental, but strangely he gets up after a lengthy treatment period and is fit to continue, with no HIA called...

Biggar is given plenty of time off the lineout as Moriarty rather illegally pulls Itoje back off the ball, though it's not picked up by referee Ben O'Keefe. Biggar fires a beautiful kick over to the corner for Daly and Williams to challenge for, and the England man knocks it on to give Wales an attacking scrim inside the 22.

It's all kicked off unsurprisingly, but only after Wales carry deep through the 22 with Tompkins and North going close. The latter carries to the line only to knock the ball on forwards, and Farrell - having made the tackle with Wilson - slaps North in the face goading him in celebration, with players then piling in for a lengthy skirmish.

After a TMO review, Farrell gets a lengthy telling off from O'Keefe, and Wales have the penalty.
