Lancashire have appointed John Stanworth to fill the vacancy created by David Lloyd's promotion to England coach.

Brian Lara, who faces another disciplinary hearing following his row with the physiotherapist Dennis Waight during the World Cup in India, has been passed over in favour of Ian Bishop as deputy to the West Indies captain, Courtney Walsh, for the forthcoming Test series against New Zealand.
