Jennifer Capriarti has accepted a wild card invitation to play in Essen, Germany next week. Capriarti was due to make her first tournament appearace since November 1994 at the Paris Open this week but withdrew because of injury incurred just before she was due to play her match on Tuesday.

Peter Graf, the father of Steffi Graf, will remain in investigative custody after a court in Karlsruhe, Germany yesterday rejected his plea for bail in a tax evasion inquiry.
