The executive of the International Yacht Racing Union have reversed the decisions of its own events committee and put on hold plans for change at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. At their meeting in Hamburg yesterday they accepted the need for a new high performance boat, but rejected the qualifications that it should have twin trapezes and an asymmetric spinnaker. The committee also rejected the idea of separating match racing from fleet racing by continuing with the idea of match race finalists qualifying from a series of fleet races.
