Internazionale's 2-1 win over Padova yesterday ensured the Milan side a place in the Uefa Cup, while forcing the losers into a play-off against Genoa to decide who will be relegated along with Brescia, Reggiana and Foggia.

Gabriel Batistuta ended the season with a club-record 26th goal to make him Serie A's leading scorer, but Fiorentina were still beaten 2-1 by Milan, who end the season in fourth place - their lowest finish since 1986-87.

Parma, who had Tomas Brolin sent off for deliberate handball, meet Juventus, the league champions, in the first leg of the Italian Cup final on Wednesday.

Real Madrid beat Deportivo La Coruna to take the Spanish championship, ending Barcelona's four-year domination.
