Great Britain slumped to their fourth consecutive world championship defeat, writes Simon Cross. This was their most spirited performance despite going down 8-2 to Team Canada's NHL stars. Rick Brebant, Canadian-born but a veteran of the British game, scored Britain's first goal in the first period, which ended with them 4-1 down. It was 8-1 after the second period, but with Bernie McCrone on as netminder Great Britin then shut out the Canadians and Kevin Conway scored a late consolation goal for them.
