Hockey: Nevill facing Parker
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.MARY NEVILL, Great Britain's bronze-medal captain in the Barcelona Olympics and another former GB luminary, Kate Parker, will be in opposition at Cannock Hockey Club tomorrow as their clubs strive for the last two National League slots.
Nevill has returned to the game after retirement to provide experience for the Loughborough Students team she has been coaching while Parker will be in the Reading line-up. Harleston Magpies, the only club fighting to retain their National League status, complete the pool.
In the second pool, the highly fancied St Albans squad, under the former England indoor international, Keith Rowley, as their coach, should have the edge over Poynton and Cheltenham but in the other pool there is little to choose between the sides.
Rowley said: 'Under former Slough star, Annette Stroud, as captain we have had a superb season. We have done our homework and feel very confident but we know the going will be tough.'
