Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

CROSTYX took advantage of Redbridge and Ilford's inactivity at the weekend to move to the top of the Norwich Union East Premier League with a 3-0 victory over the bottom club, Broxbourne, with goals from Paul Diver, Graham Smith and Steve Rookes, writes Bill Colwill. Crostyx lead Redbridge thanks to their greatly superior goal difference.

Gloucester City's 7-0 win against Clevedon, with Derek Pittaway claiming a hat-trick, kept them one point clear at the top of the SunLife West Premier. Likewise in the Ernst and Young North and Midland leagues, Sheffield and Edgbaston retain their leaderships.

The Malawian international Francois Toussaint scored twice, as did the former England international Suti Khehar, in Maidenhead's 6-1 win against Weybridge Hawks to keep them four points clear at the top of the A Division of the Peroni South Premier.

Anchorians, 2-1 winners at home to Ashford with goals from Trevor Shave and Neil Gordon, take over second place from High Wycombe, who lost to a Simon Turner goal at Tulse Hill.

City of Portsmouth, leaders of the B Division, were held goalless by Fareham. Gore Court moved level on points with Portsmouth with a 2-0 win at Purley.
