Your support makes all the difference.Britain's Henry Akinwande has been given a change of opponent in his quest for the vacant World Boxing Organisation heavyweight title in Indio, California, on Saturday. The 29-year-old London-born fighter will now face Jeremy Williams, of California, after his original scheduled opponent, Alex Zolken, suffered a cut over his left eye in training that needed 12 stitches.
Oscar De La Hoya will make the first defence of his World Boxing Council super-lightweight title against the No 1 challenger, Miguel Angel Gonzalez of Mexico, on 14 September.
Peter Culshaw last night took the Commonwealth flyweight title from the champion, Daniel Ward of South Africa, in thrilling style in Stevenage. Culshaw proved his punching power by stopping Ward, previously undefeated in 30 bouts, after 55 seconds of the third round. Culshaw may now seek to challenge for the WBO world title
