Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Rangers captain, Richard Gough, welcomed the Coca-Cola Cup quarter-final draw which paired the Glasgow giants. Celtic were first out of the hat, which means Rangers will make their first visit to the newly-rebuilt Celtic Park on 19 September.

Gough said: "This is a good draw for us because these are the kind of games I would rather play in - high intensity and high-pressure occasions.

"We will now play a Champions' League game, a domestic league match and then Celtic away. I prefer that to playing smaller teams when we are on a hiding to nothing."

Gough had praise for Celtic's new stadium and had some advice for those Rangers players who will be tasting the unique atmosphere of an Old Firm derby for the first time. "I would say to those who haven't played before in one of these games that it will be played a lot quicker than they're used to and they'll have to be cool and calm about the whole thing.

SCOTTISH COCA-COLA CUP Quarter-final draw: Motherwell v Aberdeen; Airdrie v Partick Thistle; Celtic v Rangers; Dundee v Hearts. (Matches to be played on 19 and 20 September).
