Strange savours 'special' victory
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 32-year-old Australian overcame the damp conditions to finish eight under for the tournament, claiming his second European Tour title ahead of Spaniard Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, who shot 72.
"This one is pretty good... just as good as Wales," said Strange, the winner of the 2008 Celtic Manor Wales Open. "I feel great to win this. This win is just special because it proves that I could win again."
Overnight leader Richard Finch of Britain, who carded three bogeys in a 74 final round, shared third place with Ashley Hall of Australia and Mark Brown of New Zealand, all two strokes off the pace. Strange wins a place in the 16-man field for the World Match Play Championship in Spain later this year. Scotland's Colin Montgomerie carded a double-bogey at the 16th in his round of 73.
