Europe fought back from a 2.5-1.5 deficit after the morning session to dominant USA in the afternoon at Gleneagles, finishing the day with a 5-3 lead. The main developments of the dramatic day's play at the Ryder Cup were:

- Mickelson and Bradley beat McIlroy and Garcia on final hole to edge USA ahead
