From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Rory McIlroy enters as an unsurprising favourite (8/1) to clinch the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush, where he broke the club record with a 61 while he was just 15 years old.
However, the Northern Irishman did struggle to cope with the weight of expectation at Augusta and knows this may very well be a once in a lifetime opportunity for him to win a major at the course he grew up playing.
Brooks Koepka (10/1) is tightly bunched behind after an immense streak of form that’s seen him win four of his last nine majors, however, he does come into the tournament on the back of slightly rocky form, finishing in 65th at the 3M Open last week.
Jon Rahm (14/1) is well-favoured after another impressive victory at the Irish Open, however, the Spaniard will have to harness is ever-combustible temper. Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose are also both lurking just behind the favourites.
Defending Open champion Francesco Molinari is seated just behind (22/1) as he seeks to avenge his collapse at Augusta, while Tiger Woods (14/1), who held firm on that occasion to clinch a long-awaited 15th major, is also right up in the mix.
