Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Laura Davies continued her fine start to the season by winning her third ANZ Ladies' Masters at Royal Pines, Queensland, Australia, yesterday. She clinched the prize in dramatic style, holing a 12-foot putt for par on the final hole.

Beaten in a play-off for last week's Australian LPG Championship, the Briton shot a closing four-under-par 68 for a 13-under 203 that was good enough to beat the Australians Karrie Webb and Rebecca Stevenson by a stroke.

India's Arjun Atwal held off the European No 1 Retief Goosen and a thunderstorm to take his second European tour title in the Malaysian Open. Atwal carded a final-round 66 for a 24-under-par total of 260 at the Mines Resort in Kuala Lampur, four shots ahead of Goosen.

In California, Charles Howell III fired a steady 68 to increase his lead after the third round of the Nissan Open on Saturday. Howell is on 11-under, three strokes ahead of Nick Price. Tiger Woods shot a 73 and is on even-par 213, tied for 28th.
