From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The European Tour 2017 season culminates in the DP Tour World Championship this weekend, which is played on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

Two-time Open Championship winner Greg Norman designed the course, which was the first Middle Eastern course design to open for the play.

The Earth Course is regarded as one of the more beautiful golf courses in the world, but does it make an appearance in our 20 most beautiful courses gallery?

From world-famous courses in Britain such as The Old Course at St Andrew’s and Old Head Golf Links, to courses further from home, above you can see some of the most striking settings in the whole of the sport.

A wide range of courses feature in the gallery – from the rugged beauty of links courses in the UK to the picturesque beauty of parkland courses in north America and beyond.

Click through the gallery above to see the courses we think are worthy of being named among the 20 most beautiful in the world.
