Just 5ft tall. With Davies beat Pat Bradley and Nancy Lopez in foursomes last time. British Open champion in 1987. Second Cup appearance. Finished fifth in money list.

CATRIN NILSMARK

Sweden

Age 25. Career wins: 0. Cup record: Debut.

Third Swede to make team. Plagued by back and neck injuries early in career. Owner of pilot's licence. Cup debut as one of Walker's choices. Made the breakthrough last year, jumping from 39th to 13th on money list.

DALE REID

Captain's choice. Europe's all-time leader in victories and earnings. The Tour's only honorary member. Has had a poor season. Considers her win over Patty Sheehan in 1990 Cup as her career highlight.

PAT BRADLEY

Age 41. Career wins: 30. Cup record: P3 W2 L1.

Record US money winner with over dollars 4.3m (pounds 2.46m) in the bank. Second Cup appearance. Finished third in money list. Last year, her 18th season on the US Tour, she won four tournaments and led the money list with dollars 746,527 (pounds 430,000). Is only the 12th player to win more than 30 tournaments and thus earn induction into the LPGA Hall of Fame.

BRANDIE BURTON

1991 US Rookie of the Year. Won three points out of three in 1990 Curtis Cup. Qualified by finishing eighth in money list. Joined LPGA last year after leaving Arizona State University. Won 1988 National Junior Championship.

BETH DANIEL

Started war of words by saying only Davies and Neumann would improve US side. Second Cup appearance. Finished fifth in money list. Set a single season record in 1990 for earnings with nearly dollars 900,000 (pounds 514,000) and seven wins.

JULI INKSTER

Age 32. Career wins: 15. Cup record: Debut.

Was given wild card ahead of Nancy Lopez. Lost US Open play-off to Patty Sheehan. Only captain's choice in US team. Holds record for Rookie earnings of more than dollars 200,000 ( pounds 114,000) in 1984. Turned professional after winning three consecutive US amateur championships.

BETSY KING

Age 37. Career wins: 27. Cup record: P3 W2 H1.

Twice US Open champion and 1986 British Open champion. Second Cup appearance. Finished seventh in money list this year, winning Mazda LPGA championship, her fifth major triumph.

MEG MALLON

Age 29. Career wins: 4. Cup record: Debut.

1991 US Open champion and second in last year's Order of Merit with dollars 633,802 ( pounds 362,300). Finished second in money list. Won 1991 LPGA championship and US Open in a three-week spell.

DOTTIE MOCHRIE

Age 27. Career wins: 5. Cup record: P3 W2 L1.

No 1 in America this year with dollars 693,000 ( pounds 396,000). Second Cup appearance, qualified first in money list. Excels in major championships, with 11 top 10 finishes. Has won three tournaments this season. Travels with husband/caddie Doug.

DEB RICHARD

Age 29. Career wins: 3. Cup record: Debut.

1984 US Amateur champion and a double winner last season. Finished ninth in money list. Won 1984 US Amateur Championship and joined the tour two years later. Won two events last year.

PATTY SHEEHAN

Age 35. Career wins: 30. Cup record: P3 W2 L1.

Last week completed 1992 double of US and British Opens. Second Cup appearance. Finished fourth in money list. A former ski star, is within one victory of entering Hall of Fame. In top 10 of money list every year since 1982. Had 100 per cent record in the 1980 Curtis Cup with four wins.
